Ombori announces free queuing system for stores to combat COVID-19

Grocers, pharmacies, and other stores around the world need to keep operating despite the global pandemic. Reducing the risk of infection both in stores and in queues outside stores by using social distancing is a major priority for them.
To address this urgent need, Ombori is releasing Ombori Grid Queues, developed in collaboration with Microsoft. Queues will be free of all license fees for the first six months. Built on MS Azure and MS Teams, it is enterprise ready and can be deployed in a matter of days. It is a fully cloud-based solution which requires no existing infrastructure or hardware.

Queues allows stores to control the number of people within the store and reduce the number of people waiting in line using a virtual queuing system. Customers add themselves to the queue using their mobile phone, and can either schedule a time or take the next available slot. They are informed via SMS of the expected wait time and can then wait safely in their car or at home instead of standing outside in proximity to other people. They receive a second message when it is their turn to enter the store. Optionally, stores can set a time limit for shoppers in order to keep the line moving, and Queues will notify shoppers when their time is up and they need to check out.
Store staff also have access to Queues via phone or tablet. They can check shoppers in and out, monitor the number of people in the store, and ensure that the virtual line keeps moving.

All Grid data is easily viewed in a dashboard which allows stores to track and analyze customer behaviour.
Built on top of Ombori’s successful Grid in-store technology platform, Queues can be used either as a stand-alone solution or integrated with other Grid components to offer more options. For example, Queues can be integrated with digital signage that displays the current queue position, sends coupons or other information to customers in store or in the queue, enables them to self check-out, or enables them to purchase online for either delivery or pickup.
